The Arctic Tundra- "The Marshy Plain"
Also called the cold grasslands, the tundra biome lies south of the arctic polar ice cap. For the majority of the year, these areas are covered with ice and snow and consist of cold temperatures with gusting winds. This Tundra mainly has the climate that it does because there are truly only two seasons, winter and summer. During the winter it is dark and cold. Because of its distance from the equator, temperatures are rarely above freezing. The temperatures are about −28 °C (−18 °F), sometimes dipping as low as −50 °C (−58 °F). During the summer a thin layer of permafrost melts. This makes the ground soggy. and temperatures rise a little to about 12 °C(54 °F) but can often drop to 3 °C (37 °F).
